The City of Sydney Council discussed a memorandum by the Chief Executive Officer regarding the rescission of the 2025 Code of Meeting Practice. The discussion noted that in December 2025, the Council adopted a new code to comply with the New South Wales Government's model meeting code.

The Council learned that the New South Wales Legislative Council disallowed the regulation introducing the 2025 model code, making it invalid. Advice from the Office of Local Government confirmed that the Council should rescind the resolution adopting the now invalid code.
