On 17 August 2026 the Transport, Heritage and Planning Committee voted unanimously to recommend that council approve the planning proposal and draft Development Control Plan for the Park Royal Hotel at 150 Day Street, Sydney, following public exhibition.
The report recommended that the council approve the proposal, which includes amendments to the Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2012 and the Sydney Development Control Plan 2012, to allow the redevelopment of the hotel site.
The committee also considered the post-exhibition planning proposal for 580 George Street, Sydney, which would enable a 10-storey office addition and about 8,000 square metres of new employment space.
